Drums Around The Corner (Blue Note CD 21455)
This rare session, finally released in 1999, represents some of the most powerful drumming by Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, and Philly Joe Jones. Gathered together under Blakey's leadership, these three legendary drummers, conga master Ray Barretto, and Lee Morgan, Bobby Timmons, and Jymie Merritt from the Jazz Messengers all converge into a stunning ensemble unlike any that had come before. Each piece not only offers swinging grooves and dynamic interaction between the musicians, but Blakey, Haynes, Jones, and Barretto each take turns propelling the group and soloing in his own signature way.

Blakey's legendary strength, Haynes' snap-crackle-pop, and Jones' melodic invention are all evident as they each produce mesmerizing improvisations, complimenting and topping each other as they go. Whether on Bird's "Moose The Mooche," the free-flowing "Drums In The Rain," or the standard "Lover," the focus here is on the primal energy of the drum and its legitimacy as an essential source of music. Also included are "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" and "What Is This Thing Called Love," both of which are electrifying duets between Blakey and bassist Paul Chambers. For drumming fans, there is little left to ask for from this priceless collection.

Lost Dakotas - Last Train To Country ( Local 81 )

Sorry no front cover just the back it was really hard tracking this thing down , they are few and far between . No longer available . ... Here is further info grab this it is well worth it . Lost Dakotas was a Canadian alternative country band in the 1990s. The band originally consisted of vocalist Paul Dakota and bassist Greg McConnell (formerly of Absolute Whores), who began in 1989 as a busker duo at the corner of Yonge and Dundas Streets in Toronto, Ontario. Their contemporaries in the busking scene included Leslie Spit Treeo, Grievous Angels, Graeme Kirkland and Barenaked Ladies.

Dakota and McConnell added guitarist Adam Faux and drummer Ron Duffy for their 1990 debut, Love to Play. Initially released as a limited edition cassette, the album completely sold out in just two days.[1] The band's visuals, including posters and album art animated video clips, were created by artist Erella Vent.

1991's Last Train to Kipling (a reference to Kipling station on the Toronto Transit Commission's Bloor-Danforth subway line) was one of the most notable Canadian indie rock albums of the 1990s, staying in the campus radio charts in Chart for over 100 weeks.[1] In 1992 Faux left to form his own band, Pig Farm, and was replaced by Rick O'Brien.

The band broke up following their 1993 album Sun Machine. McConnell went on to form Stratochief, but died in 1999. Erella Vent, now Erella Ganon, continues as an illustrator and writer. Adam Faux currently leads two bands with drummer Topher Stott, Hot Fo Gandhi and The Tiny Specks.
